Earn, Learn & Return Program
Program Lead: Geraldine Powell
Program description: Financial literacy is a crucial life skill that everyone, especially students, should possess. It involves having the knowledge and understanding of how to manage one's finances, including budgeting, saving, investing, and understanding credit and debt. It is essential for students to learn financial literacy as early as possible to prepare them for the real world.
Financial literacy education can help students make informed decisions about their finances and avoid financial traps that can lead to debt and financial hardship. By understanding basic financial concepts, students can develop good financial habits that can set them up for a successful financial future. They can also learn how to manage their money and make it work for them, rather than being controlled by their finances.
Program goals: Participants will understand financial and entrepreneurship concepts, to build financial skills; make well-informed decisions about their financial futures and learn what it takes to start a business. Students receive an educational stipend based on their active participation in the program. Sessions happen every other Friday from 6:00-8:00PM
Location: Community Family Life Center (1375 S. Harris Rd., Ypsilanti, 48198)
